#3 Dress Code

While  the legislation is in full swing so in the arguing and the unnecessary law making. Rather than worrying about what our country and state is coming to, we are worrying about what each other is wearing.

When the legislation began its sessions, there was a new rule implemented. It was concerning dress code and what was and was not appropriate clothing. While a majority of the democrat women are highly offended, other women don't see a problem with it.

Some women said things like:
“It’s like something out of ‘Mad Men,’” said Representative Ellie Hill
“The whole thing is totally sexist and bizarre and unnecessary."  Ellie Hill
Mr. Regier said. “What we’re saying is: Be appropriate in what you wear. Don’t wear something that could be a distraction from the legislative process.”

Basically the women are upset because they are being held to a stricter dress code then the men are, the men feel that there is nothing really wrong with it. Ellie does not like that she has to wear certain clothing for what ever reason and finds it to be sexist. Mr. Regier finds there to be nothing wrong with it and that everyone needs to be professional while there.

Personally it kind of cranks my crank that they are fighting over what they are supposed to wear and things like this that in the end don't make a state a better state or a worse state. However, they do have one of the "easiest" job there are. They have to meet for 90 days ever other year. Therefore while they are there they can get over it and dress professional. I think that the dress code should be dress professional and leave at that. These people are elected in to go and make sure that they are bettering our state. This is not bettering our state. This is just dumb. They are adults grow up and act like it. Men should not being looking at the women there and commenting on their outfits every day. The women also shouldn't be dressing in a manner that makes them want to look. Here is simple saying that my grandma always says that makes you really think about what  you would wear.... "If you wouldn't wear it to church then don't wear it." As simple as that. Dress appropriate and be an adult about this situation. This is what is wrong with America. We are more worried about being equal and making sure that non of our rights are taken away that we are letting our country go. We are losing sight of what is really important and wasting time on things like this. When you get paid more money than most of the people working in 90 days you can wear nice clothes and not cause a huge scene. Grow up and start working on things that you are there to work on.

Assignment #2
Throughout this blog we will be looking at 5 separate house bills.

The bills we will be looking at are; HB 111 (DUI Sentence), HB 130 (Tanning), HB 200 (Government assistance drug testing).

HB 111 Keith Regier a Republican from Kalispell. THe bill wants to increase the sentencing for a folony driging under the influence conviction. According to Helenair.com

HB 130 Ellie Hill a democrat form Missoula. The bill is trying to make is so that people under the age of 18 can not tan without consent of a parent or a legal guardian. I think that it will affect may people. Especially around prom time. While some people use tanning beds to get tanner some people use it to cure depression. It has been proven that this will work. Also people should be able to tan if they want. I don't feel that this should be up to the government.

HB 200 Was introduced by Randall Pinocci is from house district 19. HB 200 states that before someone can receive government assistance they must pass drug testing. This bill may affect some of the families that are currently receiving government assistance.

HB 28 Jenny Eck a democrat from Helena. The bill wants to require parole hearings to be video-recorded. HB 135 will be picked up with this bill to revise criteria for parole of prisoners. This could potentially save tax payers more money. I am not completely sure on what exactly else the bill with do for the common citizen. It will be interesting to see what all comes up with this bill. '

SB 19 R. Ripley the bill is basically saying the per capita livestock fees assessed by livestock and cattle protective districts for the livestock special deputy fund. I think that our livestock people are taxed enough. We do not need to pass laws that will just make them have to pay more. We are working hard to keep food on your table. It is important that we also put things in to protect out Ag families.

Assignment #1
The Montana Legislature is meeting over a period of 90 days to make new laws. During this session, it seems that the Republicans have the upper hand. Especially since they  have the majority in the house as well as with the senate. "we are all elected here to do the Montana people's work and that will only happen if we work together in a respectful, civil manner." said Austin Knudsen, Republican from Culbertson. Knudsen said that some of his parties goals are to help communities impacted by the oil boon in eastern Montana, funding charter schools and extending tax relief to working Montanans according to the Billings Gazette were a few of the items. Bullock is looking to blend cash and bonds to tackle infrastructure projects across the state."While it seems that interest rates are low, it looks like it would be a good time to borrow money." Bullock said according to the Gazette. The democratic party is also looking at education and healthcare. The democrats also want to invest $37 million on voluntary early childhood education programs. They also want to Medicaid coverage to roughly 70,000 Montanans. They are the main points that the government is looking at according to the Billings Gazette.

I don't necessarily support the spread of medicaid. If they did go on to support this and it passes I hope that they also make it so that people have to pass a drug test to get on it and then to stay on it. If I have to get drug tested to have a job to earn that money then they should have to get drug tested to receive it. I also think that we need to look at doing things for places in Montana besides just Sidney and the oil places. We all pay taxes therefore we all should get to see the benefits of these taxes. If you are interested in what is going on at the legislature stay tuned to this blog. You can also find different information on whats going on online at various websites. Remember that if you want to see something changed that you have to make sure that your voice is heard.

Stay tuned to find out more!
and remember "You have to be the change you want to see in the world." unknown.
