Assignment #1
The Montana Legislature is meeting over a period of 90 days to make new laws. During this session, it seems that the Republicans have the upper hand. Especially since they  have the majority in the house as well as with the senate. "we are all elected here to do the Montana people's work and that will only happen if we work together in a respectful, civil manner." said Austin Knudsen, Republican from Culbertson. Knudsen said that some of his parties goals are to help communities impacted by the oil boon in eastern Montana, funding charter schools and extending tax relief to working Montanans according to the Billings Gazette were a few of the items. Bullock is looking to blend cash and bonds to tackle infrastructure projects across the state."While it seems that interest rates are low, it looks like it would be a good time to borrow money." Bullock said according to the Gazette. The democratic party is also looking at education and healthcare. The democrats also want to invest $37 million on voluntary early childhood education programs. They also want to Medicaid coverage to roughly 70,000 Montanans. They are the main points that the government is looking at according to the Billings Gazette.

I don't necessarily support the spread of medicaid. If they did go on to support this and it passes I hope that they also make it so that people have to pass a drug test to get on it and then to stay on it. If I have to get drug tested to have a job to earn that money then they should have to get drug tested to receive it. I also think that we need to look at doing things for places in Montana besides just Sidney and the oil places. We all pay taxes therefore we all should get to see the benefits of these taxes. If you are interested in what is going on at the legislature stay tuned to this blog. You can also find different information on whats going on online at various websites. Remember that if you want to see something changed that you have to make sure that your voice is heard.

Stay tuned to find out more!
and remember "You have to be the change you want to see in the world." unknown.
