Open Letter

Dear Mr. Moore,

You were put in our government to do great things for not only our state, but also our country.  You are doing the exact opposite. Rather than spending your time wisely, you are wasting not only your time but also mine. You see when you bring stupid things up, such as you did with this issue, you are also wasting my time because I am in government class and have to write a blog on it. If you could at least bring up issues that were not completely stupid that would be great.

People have a right as an American to wear what they chosen when they chose to do so. Therefore, if people want to ride a bike down main street completely naked then they should be able to. You see there were these great people called our founding fathers. They  worked very hard to create a great country where we can do pretty much anything that we chose to do. They did not work hard for people like you to ruin other peoples freedom. We also have soldiers missing holidays with families and other big events because they were defending this country. Being the daughter of someone who was shipped and missed big family functions because they were serving our country this really irritates me.

My dad was gone for over a year to defend you. I have no issue with that. What he did for our country was a great things and I thank him for that every day. On the other hand you could be respectful and take care of our troops who are getting paid worse, receiving worse benefits, and living in much worse conditions than you are. While they are clearly spending their time more wisely doing better things for our country as a hole.

What people wear does not really affect how our country will run. I mean really what we wear and how we wear it is a way of expressing ourselves. I wish that you could see things from my end and start doing things that were benefiting us as a state and a country. If you are running out of bills to propose look at our troops and I'm sure that you can find something to do for them. After all they are doing things for you and you will never be able to pay them back for those things. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Rylee Perkins

This bill is saying that the governing authority of any school other than a post secondary school may not allow a person to attend as a pupil unless the person has been immunizing against varicella, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, poliomyelitis, rubella, mumps, and measles (rubella) in the manner and with immunizing agents approved by the department. If the student has been immunized against Hemophiliacs influenza type "b" before enrolling in a preschool if under 5 years of age or qualifies for conditional attendance; or files for an exemption. The governing authority of a post secondary school may not allow a person to attend as a pupil unless the person: has a reason to otherwise not be vaccinated.

This bill was introduced by M. Macdonald. She wants to add the varicella to list. Varicella is the vaccine against chicken pocks.

While I don't believe that there is a large population at Roberts that would be against getting the vaccine it might help our school out. There are not a lot of cases of chicken pocks though. You also have to look at the stipulations of a school. The more stipulations that you have the less students are going to want to come here. Students don't want to go somewhere that they have to get a lot of extra shots to go.

However, if we did require this then we might have any chicken pocks in Roberts. I think that it is good to not vaccinate against it and then allow students to get it. There is really no better immunity against a disease then the natural one that your body builds up. Also it is  good to get the younger you are. It is said that chicken pocks are much easier on people to get it younger and then the older you are when you get them, the harder it is on you.

I would tell people to shut down the bill. It is crazy there are certain things that people need to gain a natural immunity against to make sure that save themselves in the future.

Basically this bill is dealing with students dropping out. The current age is 16 and they want to change that to 18.

Senate Bill 14 is sponsored by Robyn Driscoll, a democrat from Billings.

While Roberts doesn't have a high drop out rate, but we do have a few students that drop out. Being in a class where we have had a student drop out it was better for the class once he was gone. Our class was constantly waiting for him to catch up and do this and do that so we were progressing and learning like we should have been. However, he did not want to be here so why make him be here. Once he was gone it was much better for the class and the teacher.

While Montana has a higher drop out rate than some we have to look at our logistics. While I don't mean this in a racist way but a lot of Montana is covered by reservations and lower income communities. These places have higher drop out rates. If students don't want to be in school while make them go and hinder the ones around them who really want to learn.

This would affect the school and our nation eventually but we can hurt the ones who want to learn because of the ones who don't want to learn.

Montana people should vote as they want. Remember however, if you were in the situation on both sides of it how would you want people to fill? For some people school isn't really a possibility. What about the students who aren't going to school because they are working to live or taking care of a child, or a parents who can't take care of themselves and they don't have money to pay for help?

Representative Randy Pinocci is the bill sponsor. The bill is basically trying to pass it so that people have to get drug testing before you are allowed on welfare.
"An act establishing drug screening and drug testing requirements for eligibility under the temporary assistance for needy families programs; prohibiting financial assistance in certain situations; allowing a third part to accept payments for children whose parents are ineligible for benefits because of drug testing and screening requirements;providing rulemaking authority." is how the bill reads.

The bill currently in committee meaning that it is currently being reviewed.

This bill will help people who are currently struggling get help. It will also protect the children and even though foster care is more expensive it is a good to help them out.  It is not the child's choice to have their parents do drugs. Why should they have to suffer because the parents are making these choices? It could lead to other jobs also being drug tested before receiving benefits.

Some see this bill as unconstitutional. This bill can been seen this way because a we are discriminating and b we are invading peoples privacy. The people are right, a lot of the drug users are not going to come out and tell you that they are using on the questions that they have to answer. It is important to make sure that everyone is being held to the same standard. The amendment that is being questioned here is the 4th one. Saying that basically we have to have reasonable cause for search. So instead of just going and picking out certain people and asking them to take the test why don't we go and do a random computer drug test. The computer picks out so many people and month and then we go and drug test those people. They have 24 hrs to respond to the call or they lose their benefits.

I personally think that it is a really good thing. For one it is more expensive to put kids in foster care but is is worth the money. I know a lot of people that would rather see their tax money going and helping kids get away from drug situations rather than going to buy the drugs. If people are being tested to earn the money that is going to welfare then why aren't people being tested receiving that money? I have a job, therefore people are receiving money that I am making. I would much rather pay for a child to be in foster are where they are no longer around drugs then in the drug situation paying for the parents to get loaded.
