Representative Randy Pinocci is the bill sponsor. The bill is basically trying to pass it so that people have to get drug testing before you are allowed on welfare.
"An act establishing drug screening and drug testing requirements for eligibility under the temporary assistance for needy families programs; prohibiting financial assistance in certain situations; allowing a third part to accept payments for children whose parents are ineligible for benefits because of drug testing and screening requirements;providing rulemaking authority." is how the bill reads.

The bill currently in committee meaning that it is currently being reviewed.

This bill will help people who are currently struggling get help. It will also protect the children and even though foster care is more expensive it is a good to help them out.  It is not the child's choice to have their parents do drugs. Why should they have to suffer because the parents are making these choices? It could lead to other jobs also being drug tested before receiving benefits.

Some see this bill as unconstitutional. This bill can been seen this way because a we are discriminating and b we are invading peoples privacy. The people are right, a lot of the drug users are not going to come out and tell you that they are using on the questions that they have to answer. It is important to make sure that everyone is being held to the same standard. The amendment that is being questioned here is the 4th one. Saying that basically we have to have reasonable cause for search. So instead of just going and picking out certain people and asking them to take the test why don't we go and do a random computer drug test. The computer picks out so many people and month and then we go and drug test those people. They have 24 hrs to respond to the call or they lose their benefits.

I personally think that it is a really good thing. For one it is more expensive to put kids in foster care but is is worth the money. I know a lot of people that would rather see their tax money going and helping kids get away from drug situations rather than going to buy the drugs. If people are being tested to earn the money that is going to welfare then why aren't people being tested receiving that money? I have a job, therefore people are receiving money that I am making. I would much rather pay for a child to be in foster are where they are no longer around drugs then in the drug situation paying for the parents to get loaded.
